It is early in the AM and Dex is up with a heavy heart and thinking about all the men and women who died while in service to our great nation. Not only is he thinking about those who have passed over the last 20 years, he is wondering to himself, like he has done ever since being wounded in Iraq in 2005, why God decided to spare his life and not his brothers. Dex reads a soldiers last letter who died in combat in Vietnam and the letter of soldier who fought in Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan. Dex also reads a small snippet from his book "I Am Pitts" and urges his fellow veterans and American citizens to not forget the meaning of Memorial Day. For the rest of his life, Dex will carry with him the physical, mental and emotional scares from Iraq, but he will carry them with honor and pride in memory of those lost.
